How to "Jump to" a Social Media Status

The Social Sense Dashboard gives you the ability to jump to a status that you have already found on Twitter or Facebook without having to find it in Social Sense. To do this, you simply need the full URL to the status.

Note: To access this feature, you need to have the "Jump to Social Media Status" permission. If you do not have the "Jump to Status" button on the dashboard (circled below), please contact the relevant person within your organisation to get the permission.

Getting the URL

You must have the URL to the full status. How you do this depends on the Social Media Site the status is on.

Twitter

Once you have found the Tweet you are interested in on the Twitter website, click anywhere on the body of the Tweet (but not in pictures or videos) to open that Tweet. The page should now look like:

Now copy the URL of the web page. In the screenshot above, this is the text highlighted in blue near the top of the page, under the tab.

Facebook

Once you have found the Post you are interested in on the Facebook website, click on the "..." in the top right of the Post (highlighed in the screenshot below) to open the menu:

Then click "Show in tab":

This will open the post in a new tab in the bottom right corner. On this tab, in the top right corner, click on the cog to open the options menu:

Then in the options menu, click "See full post":

This will have now opened the post on the full page, which will look like:

Now copy the URL of the web page. In the screenshot above, this is the text highlighted in blue near the top of the page, under the web page tab (the normal web browser tab at the top, not the tab that opened within the Facebook page in the bottom right).

Using the URL to view the status in Social Sense

  • Go to the Dashboard within Social Sense
  • Click on the "Jump to Status" button (highlighted in the screenshot below):
  • Paste the URL to the Status (copied from the Social Media Site) in the box that pops up on screen:
  • Click on the "Fetch Status" button and wait for Social Sense to fetch the status from the Social Media site, which may take several seconds.

Once the status has been fetched, it will be displayed on screen. From here you can interact with it as you would had you found the status from within Social Sense.
