Creating a new survey
You can create a new survey from the 'Surveys' option in the menu in the main admin area:
From this page, you will then see any current / ended surveys for your site, and the option to create a new survey:
From 'Create a new survey' you will then see the below options to populate those details:
- The survey name is for admin purposes only and will not be displayed within the survey itself.
- The survey type is currently only for sorting of your surveys in the admin area, so the most relevant type for your survey can be selected.
- The anonymous access options are one important aspect of setting up your survey, this controls who is able to access your survey. When sending your survey within an Alert message the user can be given a link to be automatically logged in, this then allows you to associate their answers with their account.
- However, if you are planning on sending out the survey through other channels, you may wish to also allow anonymous answers, so that anyone who accesses the survey, who may not have an account on Neighbourhood Alert, isn't required to register an account.
- The Allow Partial Survey Completions option will allow you to record the results of users who don't complete the entire survey.
If a user does choose to answer anonymously, they also have the option to register an account on Alert at the end of the survey, if they do wish to then receive the Alert messages for their area.
Next, you can set the time when the survey is available to be answered, if the survey is accessed outside of this range the user will not be able to submit their answers.
Here, under the Survey Completion Text section, you can also add a custom message to be display to the respondent after they've completed the survey. This may include: images. text, links, so you could also offer other contact options here, for example:
Once you then click 'save' here, this survey will then be shown in the list of surveys when to go to the 'surveys' option in the menu, or 'existing surveys'.
