Overview
This module was originally developed in collaboration with West Mercia Police and the PCC in West Mercia around 2022 when they wanted to fulfil a commitment to improve contact between the public and their local neighbourhood teams and to demonstrate that they are listening, to offer feedback quickly about local priorities and give each local community a voice. Further in-depth enhancements to the module were developed in 2025 to support police forces in delivering the reporting requirements of the Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee (NPG).
The Contact Manager module works seamlessly with the other Alert modules such as the survey tool, SOH incoming mail, the targeted engagement patrol planning tools and the Local Area Pages module that enables your Alert website (and single online home Website if they allow the script) to provide a dedicated email address for the public to contact any authorised Neighbourhood Policing team member.
How does it work
These 'incoming contact' emails are automatically handled within the secure Alert replies system so that these messages can be handled along with other feedback from the public sent through the Alert message replies. This also means that these can be escalated in the same way automatically, and reminders are sent to admins for any 'open' messages, that have not had a response.
The system provides a complex process for preventing spam, promoting registration, highlighting outstanding contacts and escalating contact that may be sensitive or urgent.
