Within the Rapport message sending process, for the second question, 'Is your message related to an engagement / event?', you should choose 'yes' if your message relates to an engagement / event, such as Engagement Vans, School visits and Surgeries etc.
This will then ask a third question 'Have you already added the engagement / event?'. Based on your answer here, you can either add a new engagement using the engagement tracker options (Engagement Tracker guide here), and then create a message as an Engagement notification within this process. Or you can send a message for an engagement you have already added to the system, by selecting one from the list of existing Engagements.

When sending an Alert about an engagement, you can select the audience to send to in a few ways, as below (this will default to the location of your engagement, if this is added):.
You can do this with a circular area:
Or with a custom shape (a drawn boundary for any area / group of roads etc):
Or, you can select one of the 'defined areas' from the area structure in the system:
Once you have selected the distribution area for this Engagement Notification you can then use the exact same steps to send your Alert as in our guide here for Sending by Area. The only difference being that your Alert will automatically include your Engagement details and response options for members, by inserting a 'mail-merge' line similar to the below example:
